3rd-6th Latin Instructor

B.A. Christian Liberal Arts and Culture, New Saint Andrews College

""Omni cui multum datum est, multum quaeretur ab eo." ("To whom much is given, much will be required.") This is the motto of New Saint Andrews College, my alma mater, and it encapsulates my goal as a teacher. I want to pass on the riches of classical education I have been given, from my homeschool experience, studies at NSA, and past years of teaching in classical Christian schools.

My love for Latin goes back to my late middle school/early high school years when I became obsessed with word etymologies. Latin was my favorite subject through high school, but it wasn't until college that I learned to hear and speak it, under the excellent instruction of Mr. Tim Griffith. I was introduced to the "direct" or "natural" method of learning Latin, and I'm excited to implement elements of that in my teaching at Caritas.

I've been blessed to have opportunities to teach at Logos School in Moscow, Idaho, and Lewis Clark Christian School in Lewiston, Idaho for the past 3 years. I taught nearly all ages from 4th through 10th grade, and Math and Humanities besides Latin. I've had a private violin studio since 2014 and completed training for the Kodály method of music instruction while in college. Though I've not taught a formal music class yet, the pedagogy training has been invaluable for all my teaching.

I'm excited to serve at Caritas this year and build new relationships with people at school and my church, Reformation OPC. Since getting married and moving to Arizona, I have been very blessed by the community I've met, and hope to be a blessing in return.
